This small bite, snack or pincho (pintxo in Basque) was originated in the Basque city of Bilbao. It was created during the Spanish Civil War, in times of famine. That is why the ingredients that were used to create this simple but delicious snack are simple and easily found in most countries.
‘Grillo’ is the Spanish word for cricket. And it is said that this name was given because it sounds like a cricket when someone eats this snack.
